Original Risographies,Week Workshop with work-formCambwerwell College of Art, 2020
In the Original Risographies workshop you will produce visual experiments and texts printed on a Riso RP3105. The workshop is a response to the visual instructions and observations presented in Bruno Munari’s 1977 print tests that were collected and published as ‘Original Xerographies’. Your print tests aim to explore the potential of the Risograph printer through a series of controlled and uncontrolled experiments. You should explore how the machine can be used to create original images, rather than produce exisiting ones. In 2013 work-form and Studio Operative produced the first edition of ‘Original Risographies’ which paid homage to Bruno Munari and took forward his idea. The prints you produce throughout this week will be used to make a new edition of this book called ‘Original Risographies 2’, part manual, part investigation. Each publication will itself be an original, documenting a series of print samples and tests. From colour registration to ink concentration, every factor of this reproduction printing method is explored. You will also produce a short text to accompany each method.
